🚨 FMCSA Revokes 8 ELDs: What You Need to Know and What to Do

If you’re a motor carrier, fleet manager, or driver relying on an ELD to track hours of service (HOS), this FMCSA update could directly affect your operations.
📢 FMCSA Removes 8 Electronic Logging Devices from Approved List
On May 12, 2025, the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) officially removed eight electronic logging devices (ELDs) from its list of approved and registered ELDs. These devices failed to meet the minimum requirements outlined in federal law (49 CFR, Part 395, Appendix A).
Here are the revoked ELDs:
-
- AllwaysTrack
-
- Command Alkon Trackit
-
- ELDX
-
- Gorilla Safety Compact ELD
-
- HCSS ELD
-
- LB Technologies FleetTrack HOS
-
- Simplex ELD 2GO
-
- Trucker Path ELD Pro
If you or your company use one of these ELDs, you must take action now to avoid being placed out of service or fined in a future inspection.
⏳ What Do You Need to Do?
FMCSA is giving carriers 60 days to switch to a compliant ELD. This means by July 11, 2025, you must:
✅ 1. Stop Using the Revoked ELD
Immediately discontinue the use of the affected ELD and switch to paper logs or logging software to track hours of service.
✅ 2. Replace the Device
Before July 11, 2025, install a new ELD from the FMCSA’s Registered ELD List. These are devices that meet all federal requirements and are fully approved.
✅ 3. Avoid Penalties
If you are using one of the revoked ELDs after July 11, you could:
-
- Be cited for not having a record of duty status
-
- Be placed out of service (OOS) by roadside enforcement
-
- Face costly fines or violations during audits
🛡️ What If My ELD Provider Fixes the Issues?
If the ELD provider updates the device to meet FMCSA requirements, the ELD may be reinstated. But there’s no guarantee this will happen in time. That’s why FMCSA recommends you replace it now rather than waiting.
🧠 Why This Matters
Hours of Service (HOS) compliance is a core part of your Driver Qualification File (DQF) and FMCSA safety requirements. Using a non-compliant ELD puts your company at serious risk. You can’t afford to ignore this.
At DOTDriverFiles, we help fleets and owner-operators stay fully compliant by tracking everything you need for DQF management — and now, with our dynamic billing platform, you can save 17% when you choose Annual Billing.
