📢 FMCSA Removes 8 Electronic Logging Devices from Approved List
On May 12, 2025, the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) officially removed eight electronic logging devices (ELDs) from its list of approved and registered ELDs. These devices failed to meet the minimum requirements outlined in federal law (49 CFR, Part 395, Appendix A).

FMCSA is giving carriers 60 days to switch to a compliant ELD. This means by July 11, 2025, you must:

Immediately discontinue the use of the affected ELD and switch to paper logs or logging software to track hours of service.

Before July 11, 2025, install a new ELD from the FMCSA’s Registered ELD List. These are devices that meet all federal requirements and are fully approved.
